Bisphosphonate therapy in polyostotic fibrous dysplasia.

چکیده
INDIAN PEDIATRICS 1069 VOLUME 41OCTOBER 17, 2004 attenuation of prostatic tissue seen in congenital obstructions leads to loss of obliquity of the normal ejaculatory ducts as they enter the posterior urethra. Associated distal obstruction to the flow of urine may aid in the urethro-ejaculatory reflux of urine .If the urine is infected, this precipitates epididymo-orchitis as it happened in the index case. However this reflux must be very unusual as epididymo-orchitis is a rare association in PUV.

Pamidronic acid and cabergoline as effective long-term therapy in a 12-year-old girl with extended facial polyostotic fibrous dysplasia, prolactinoma and acromegaly in McCune-Albright syndrome: a case report
INTRODUCTION McCune-Albright syndrome is a complex inborn disorder due to early embryonal postzygotic somatic activating mutations in the GNAS1 gene. The phenotype is very heterogeneous and includes polyostotic fibrous dysplasia, typically involving the facial skull, numerous café-au-lait spots and autonomous hyperfunctions of several endocrine systems, leading to hyperthyroidism, hypercortisol...
متن کاملEffect of pamidronate treatment in children with polyostotic fibrous dysplasia of bone.
Intravenous infusions with the bisphosphonate compound pamidronate decrease bone pain and reportedly can lead to refilling of dysplastic lesions in adults with fibrous dysplasia (FD) of bone. Here we describe the effects of this treatment approach in 18 children and adolescents (age at start of therapy, 6.2-17.5 yr; eight girls) with polyostotic FD, who received pamidronate for 1.2-9.1 yr (medi...
متن کاملZoledronate Therapy for the Pathological Humeral Fracture in Polyostotic Fibrous Dysplasia: A Case Report
Fibrous dysplasia (FD) of bone is a rare skeletal disease often associated with bone pain, deformities and fractures. The bisphosphonate therapies are reported to be useful for bone pain, but seem to be not suitable for fracture repairs of extremities. This is the first report of zoledronate-induced radiological improvement and long bone fracture union in polyostotic FD. A 30-year-old Japanese ...
متن کاملCharacteristics and Treatment Results of 5 Patients with Fibrous Dysplasia and Review of the Literature
Aim. Fibrous dysplasia is a rare bone disease caused by missense mutation leading to abnormal fibroblast and osteoblast proliferation and increased bone resorption. FD can present in monostotic or polyostotic forms. About 3% of FD could be in association with McCune-Albright syndrome (MAS). Because FD is a rare disease, there is limited data in the literature about characteristics of disease an...
متن کاملFibrous dysplasia of the craniofacial bones.
An elderly woman presented with a history of slow and progressive facial asymmetry since childhood. Physical examination revealed painless right facial enlargement involving the soft tissue and bony structures of the maxilla and mandible (image A). A plain radiograph revealed hazy radiopacities with a ground glass appearance (image B), suggestive of polyostotic fibrous dysplasia (FD). Transoral...
